YEAR 2 · AGES 6–7
Year 2 Maths Worksheets & Practice
Year 2 is a good time to connect number facts with everyday problems. Give children space to explain their method before asking for a quicker answer.
From counting to connections
Number & place value
Build two-digit numbers with tens and ones. Compare them and explain which digit helps you decide.
Addition & subtraction
Use known bonds to 20 to work with numbers up to 100. Check an addition with a subtraction.
Multiplication & division
Explore the 2, 5 and 10 tables and their related division facts. Arrays help connect a fact to its meaning.
Fractions
Share quantities into halves, thirds and quarters. Find three quarters by finding one quarter first.
Measurement & money
Combine coins to make an amount, compare lengths in centimetres and practise time to five minutes.
Geometry & statistics
Describe sides and vertices. Make a simple tally chart of something your child can count at home.
A small idea to try today
Set up a tiny pretend shop with three items priced below £1. Choose two items, find the total and work out change using real or paper coins.
A parent-friendly overview, not a complete curriculum checklist. Schools may sequence learning differently. Based on the mathematics programmes of study for England; checked August 2026.
