YEAR 6 · AGES 10–11
Year 6 Maths Worksheets & Practice
In Year 6, practise choosing a strategy as well as carrying it out. Short, focused review can make space for careful reasoning without turning every session into test preparation.
Ready for the next chapter
Number & place value
Compare numbers up to ten million. Use rounding and estimation to judge whether an answer is reasonable.
The four operations
Review efficient written methods and the order of operations. Interpret remainders in the context of a problem.
Fractions, decimals & percentages
Calculate with fractions and connect equivalent representations. Work out percentages of quantities in practical situations.
Ratio & early algebra
Scale a recipe, compare quantities and use a letter for an unknown number in a simple equation.
Measurement & geometry
Explore area, volume and angle relationships. Use coordinates in all four quadrants.
Statistics & reasoning
Interpret pie charts and line graphs, and calculate a mean. Explain what a chart does and does not show.
A small idea to try today
Take a recipe for four people and adapt it for six. Talk through the scale factor and check whether each new quantity makes sense.
A parent-friendly overview, not a complete curriculum checklist. Schools may sequence learning differently. Based on the mathematics programmes of study for England; checked August 2026.
