YEAR 3 · AGES 7–8
Year 3 Maths Worksheets & Practice
As numbers get larger, familiar representations still help. In Year 3, connect practical examples to written methods and revisit facts a little at a time.
More ways to work it out
Number & place value
Represent three-digit numbers with hundreds, tens and ones. Try adding ten and explain which digits change.
Addition & subtraction
Work with three-digit numbers, gradually connecting mental strategies to column methods. Estimate before calculating.
Multiplication & division
Build familiarity with the 3, 4 and 8 tables. Double a known fact to make a new fact.
Fractions
Explore tenths, equivalent fractions and adding fractions with the same denominator within one whole.
Measurement
Measure perimeter by walking around a shape’s edge. Read time to the nearest minute and compare durations.
Geometry & statistics
Spot right angles and parallel lines. Read simple tables and bar charts, asking what the data tells you.
A small idea to try today
Draw four rows of three dots, then double the number of rows. Use the picture to explain the connection between 4 × 3 and 8 × 3.
A parent-friendly overview, not a complete curriculum checklist. Schools may sequence learning differently. Based on the mathematics programmes of study for England; checked August 2026.
